Located just 6 km away from the majestic Jog Falls, the Sharavathi Nature Camp is a haven for birdwatchers, offering sightings of various winged visitors such as Kingfishers, Indian Peafowl, Hoopoes, Hornbills, Pond Herons, Grey-headed Bulbuls, and Cormorants. The resort is also surrounded by several butterfly species and is home to mammals such as the Black-naped Hare, Common Langurs, and Malabar Giant Squirrels. The monsoon season, which starts in June and lasts until November, is the best time to visit the Jog Falls as the Western Ghats come alive with fresh new life and renewed vitality.

All in all a very good experience

It is one of the JLR''s new property. Finding the place coming in Sagara might get a tad difficult, could do better with proper sign boards especially when at some places there are no people to ask around. Once there we had an unusually long wait to get our rooms as the service boys could not be found. But after around 30 minutes everything fell into place. The cottages are well laid and it is as an exercise itself to get to them. Once inside everything is so well maintained and they have used all best available products. Especially since this is a new property everything is so neat. As through all JLR''s the activities included boat ride, jungle trek, water scooter, bon fire etc. The best part was the trampoline in the middle of the reservoir. The children had so much fun. All meals were very good and is their hospitality. The views from the cottages are also breath taking.

World in its true sense!

We chose this JLR for the long weekend in February. It took us a little over 7 hours to reach the place from Bangalore. We took the special aka VIP cottage, it costed us hardly around Rs 500 more per night but it was totally worth it. The cottage has AC, TV and very comfortable bed. But the best thing about it is the view from the cottage. It has a clear view of the reservoir waters from its balcony. The other facilities at the resort include water sports (such as fun boat rides, kayaking, water trampoline, jet skiing, etc...) Kayaking on the calm waters either in the morning or in the late hours of the evening is beautiful and serene. We spotted a few birds including a grey horn bill and brahminy kite while we were kayaking along the shore. One important thing to note is that there is absolutely no mobile network at this place. So you are disconnected from the world in its true sense!
